It doesn’t take much to derail life when it’s the minutiae details that make all the difference. This morning, there was a lot to pack in before the deadline of getting to the School for Social Entrepreneurs course (more about that another time!) on time. The kids were perfect; ready – with hats, coats, shoes and book bags – an amazing five minutes EARLIER than planned and so I drove off for the school run smugly confident that all was good with the world.
Engine on. I saw the fuel tank was almost at zero. Oh bugger. But it’s ok. We have time because we are five minutes early. No traffic to the petrol station. Good. Fill half a tank. No problem. Pay. Back to the car. Engine on. NNNNNOOOOOOOO! A massive truck just swung into the forecourt right jn front of me and is blocked by a parked car. Unhinged! Even the kids are commenting: ‘what a joke!’ ‘But we’re going to be late now and we’ve done nothing wrong!’ Car moves. Truck moves. We move. Phew. School drop offs completed in record time. Get to the car park in town, head up and up and up and park with seven minutes to spare. And even get a moment to appreciate the view of the city this fine morning. Back on track for the rest of the day.
